
After about 2 weeks of perfect operation, the display simply faded out, not to return.
I contacted Apple, and they directed me to a link on their website, that then directed me to bring my damaged iPod to the nearest UPS store. There, they would ship it to Apple (all expenses paid).
A day after I did that, I got an email from Apple, telling me that the problem with my iPod has been identified, and that they have already shipped out a new 32 gig iPod Touch. I received it the very next day, and was I glad.
Not only did Apple replace my iPod with a new one, but they also told me how to get all of the apps I lost in the damaged iPod, into the new one. You cannot know how thrilled I am to have it all back, in a spanking new iPod. Thanks Apple !
